This podcast provides a short synopsis of rapid prototyping within the Instructional Design framework. Gangé's nine events of instructure acted as a guide for the structure of how to present the material. As most instructional designers are familiar with ADDIE, that model was used as a baseline to create a mental image of rapid prototyping by slightly adjusting aspects of the ADDIE model. This topic was selected because many instructional designers are most likely already implementing some kind of rapid prototyping but are not aware it. As a simple overview and partial reiteration of existing knowledge of the target audience, audio seemed to be an ideal learning modality.
Tools used: Adobe Audition, WistiaThe target learner audience is those who work in ID and have a general background of ID, and don’t know what rapid prototyping is. The learning objectives are to provide a brief overview of the steps of rapid prototyping in ID. This includes a basic definition of rapid prototyping, its application in ID, and the three steps in the process.
Using Gangé's nine events of instruction as a structure I selected the first four events and the ninth event, that were suitable for a short podcast and omitted the rest.
The events included were:
1) Gain the attention of the learners which included a well-know quote.
2) Inform the learner of the objectives which includes how to use rapid prototyping in an ID project.
3) Stimulate recall of prior learning which was a reminder of ADDIE. Based on the target audience pointed out, this information would be known.
4) Present the content which included a brief overview of rapid prototyping, its steps and some considerations when applying rapid prototyping.
9) Enhance retention and transfer was done by closing with a summary of the main points.
